Fin Finder

Fin Finder is a unique interactive tool that allows researchers and the public to follow fish and sharks throughout the Gulf and beyond. The CSSC is home to the largest fish and shark-tagging program in the western Gulf and has tagged more than 13,000 fish and sharks with the help of volunteer anglers.

For Fin Finder, Sportfish Center researchers use cutting-edge wildlife tracking technology, including satellite tags that enable real-time monitoring of fish and shark movements. With online mapping tools provided by AFTCO, one of the country's top fishing tackle and apparel companies, and support from the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA), anyone can follow these incredible animals online on Fin Finder.

We name our tagged fish and sharks after friends of the Institute, and you can get to know these ambassadors for the ocean by selecting their names below!
